Student Financial Wellness is comprised of Financial Aid, Scholarships, Student Employment and Student Payment Services. This unit was established in response to students’ concerns about having to visit multiple offices in order to finance their education. Restructuring these services into a single unit provides one central, convenient location for students who now work with one financial wellness advisor for consultation regarding tuition bills, financial aid packages, scholarships and loans.
Student Financial Wellness Mission
The unit’s mission is to provide programs and services to all NEIU students that remove financial barriers and support financing of their education, along with acting as an advocate on their behalf for the preservation of student financial assistance. Through the programs provided, it is the unit’s intent to educate students on being proactive in the application process, creating a budget, tracking expenditures, managing loan debt and saving over time. Through the services provided, it is the unit’s intent to assist students in identifying important deadlines, eligibility and funding options suitable for their educational objectives. Through acting as advocate, it is the unit’s intent to actively engage in national and state-based legislative efforts, negotiated rule making and implementation of new regulations with maximum transparency to students. All student financial assistance, including institutional aid as well as Title IV Federal and State-based programs, is administered with integrity and equity.
