Northeastern Illinois University’s Graduate Certificate in American Studies provides those working in the humanities and social sciences an opportunity to broaden and deepen their understandings of the American experience in all its complexity. The program is extremely flexible, requiring students to take eighteen credits in the social sciences and the humanities, with no more than two courses per program. The certificate program fully embraces the idea of America and its diversity, not limited to the borders of the United States but including all areas now commonly referred to as North, Central and South America and the Caribbean. The certificate will enable students to employ multiple disciplines to enrich their own teaching or professional life.
