TED-316A. Middle Level Literacy. 3 Hours.

TED-401. Clinical Experience In Teacher Mentoring. 1.5 Hour.

This introductory course will help experienced, practicing teachers (mentors) develop knowledge, skills and dispositions to coach early career practicing teachers (mentees). Examination of common problems of practice will include classroom environment, planning and preparation, instruction, and professionalism. Mentors will support a minimum of two mentees throughout the course, designing and enacting support plans for their mentees, and reflecting on the effectiveness of their mentorship to aid their mentees in navigating the teaching profession. Site observations at mentees’ schools, weekly mentor-mentee touch points, and biweekly meetings with the supervising faculty member are required.

TED-402. Advanced Clinical Experience In Teacher Mentoring. 1.5 Hour.

This advanced course will help experienced, practicing teachers (mentors) examine the relationships between common problems of practice for early career teachers (mentees) in the areas of classroom environment, planning and preparation, instruction, and professionalism. A focus on interrelationships will aid mentors in transformative goal-setting, multi-perspectival analysis, and content and culture integration. Mentors will coach a minimum of two mentees to design and enact support plans, and reflect on the effectiveness of their mentorship. Site observations at mentee schools along with weekly mentor-mentee touch points are required, along with biweekly meetings with the supervising faculty member.
